Writer's picture: Dylan WallisDylan Wallis

I'll do a four day report because I know a lot of you took the Friday off too!

Waitangi Weekend is looking beautiful with a small swell and light offshore winds in the morning and a light sea breeze in the afternoons.

This weekend if you want to rent a surfboard outside our operating times just ring us up and we'll make it happen!

Beginner and Intermediate Surfers Weekend Surf Report
Summer!!

Thursday 6th February (Waitangi Day)

Swell - 0.9m - 1.2m or 2 - 4ft

Wind - Very light South Westerly

High Tide - 4.44pm

Low Tide - 10.34am

It's looking like a true summers day! A small swell with light winds and super warm water. Mid tide coming in will be great for beginners and advanced beginners should wait for the high tide.

Beginners - I'd be looking to surf any time from midday onwards, the incoming tide will create beautiful rolling white water perfect for learning.

Look Out!! Bring jandals/sandals/flip flops because the sand will be hot going down to the beach.

Advanced Beginners - The higher tide has been really fun with the mid to high tide. Best waves will be 2pm - 6pm.

Look Out!! The closer to high tide the more power in the waves.

Intermediates - If you enjoy surfing the low tide there will be less wind in the morning. The coaches have been scoring fun waves on high tide even with the light onshore so up to you.

Look Out!! There will be more swell in the morning.

Friday 7th February

Swell  - 0.7m - 0.8m or 2 - 3ft

Wind  - East, North East Offshore

High Tide - 5.29am or 5.57pm

Low Tide - 11.44am

Friday looks all time! Small, offshore and sunny! The high tide is either early or late so you could sneak a surf in even if you're at work.

Beginners - Any time before 11am or after 1pm will be great. 3pm onwards is my pick for the best beginner waves though.

Look Out!! Bring jandals/sandals/flip flops because the sand will be hot going down to the beach.

Advanced Beginners - It's a great chance to come down after work and get some good waves. My pick is 3pm onwards but dawn will be good too.

Look Out!! The closer to high tide the more power in the waves.

Intermediates - Looks like a good forecast for all day, go when you can.

Look Out!! There will be more swell in the afternoon.

Saturday 8th February

Swell  - 1.2m - 1.3m or 3 - 4ft

Wind  - East Offshore

High Tide - 6.43am or 7.11pm

Low Tide - 12.57pm

How good! Another day that's looking beautiful!! We'll be open for rental from 7.45am so if you want come down early it's a good day for it! (Call and arrange if you want to rent early).

Beginners - The early and late high tide means great waves from first light until 11.30am or if you want a sleep in 3pm onwards will be awesome too. If possible just skip the low tide from 12pm - 2pm.

Look Out!! Bring jandals/sandals/flip flops because the sand will be hot going down to the beach.

Advanced Beginners - Yeew! The same as beginners but there will be more unbroken waves closer to the high tides! Expect some fun ones!

Look Out!! If it's busy and you're paddling out the back, remember your surf etiquette and who has right of way.

Intermediates - Looks like a great forecast for all day, go when you can.

Look Out!! There will be more swell in the afternoon.

Sunday 9th February

Swell  - 1.3m - 1.6m or 3 - 5ft

Wind  - Super light early with an arvo sea breeze

High Tide - 7.54am

Low Tide - 2.07pm

A little bit more swell but still great looking waves for beginner and intermediate surfers!

Beginners - The morning is looking the best with great waves until midday. 8am to 11am would be my pick. There will also be nice waves 4pm onwards.

Look Out!! Bring jandals/sandals/flip flops because the sand will be hot going down to the beach.

Advanced Beginners - Early is the best option for Sunday. 8am - 10am should be really fun. It will be reform though as theres a bit more swell on Sunday.

Look Out!! Go in the morning so you miss the low tide!

Intermediates - Early is best, Anytime from dawn to 11am should be fun!

Look Out!! There will be more swell in the afternoon.
